In one of my websites where it tells me to log on the log on icon is hidden. I can find it by scrolling over it with my mouse and the pointer changes from an arrow to a hand with a pointed finger. I contacted the financial website and they told me the following:

Firefox for Windows/Mac

1. Click on Firefox at the top of the screen (where is this?) 2. In the 'Firefox' drop down menu choose Preferences 3. Click on Advanced tab at top 4. Click on the Network tab 5. In the 'Cached Web Content' section, click Clear Now 6. Close/reopen browser

I have tried to find where on the Firefox screen they are talking about and cannot find where to change preferences and attempt to see exactly what I am clicking on. Any help?

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

They are talking about the Orange Firefox button that is in the upper left hand corner of your window. If you don't have that, you have the traditional menu bar enabled, so just click on Tools, then Options. It looks they wrote their instructions for both mac and Windows, which aren't the same.

I have the same problem as before even after I cleared the cache. I cannot see the icons but can "feel" around for them before the hand with the finger indicates I am over it. I now find that on another financial web site I have real difficulty even seeing the log in lines.

Thanks for the help! I much prefer Firefox over Internet Explorer. It looks like most of what I needed to be saved was restored.

This can also be caused by this setting in Firefox:

Make sure that you allow pages to choose their colors and that you haven't enabled High Contrast in the Accessibility settings.

  • Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Colors : [X] "Allow pages to choose their own colors, instead of my selections above"
