How to stop a pop up - Goodgame Empire
While browsing the net, from email to facebook to youtube to forums, I get the same annoying pop up - Goodgame Empire -(http://lp.empire.goodgamestudios.com/?country=us&pid=248&camp=1&gid=12&cid=785514&tid=18668003%A0). A new tab will randomly open every 10-60 seconds, it seems to be triggered by me if I scroll down on a page, or select another tab, or click the address bar etc, but also just randomly as well. So far, while writing this it has opened about 15 new tabs.
I have searched google and haven't found any answers, I'm not a computer guru but I can do basic things. So far, I have deleted my history, cookies etc. Still pops ups. I tried blocking the website, still pops up. I downloaded some add on for firefox and it seemed to fix the problem about a week ago until today it started again, and I can't remember the name of the add-on and I don't know where to find it. I also ran my McAfee antivirus program and Malwarebytes and they found nothing.
I am out of ideas on how to fix this, it is extremely frustrating, please help, and remember I am not a computer genius.

If this is more or less Firefox specific 1. Go to Firefox->AddOns. Disable everything you do not know, especially ones that are installed during the time you started seeing popups. 2. Restart FF. 3. If this continues, disable proxy server (this guide covers these steps ). 4. If the problems continue, scan with anti-malware programs http://www.malwarebytes.org http://www.surfright.nl/en/hitmanpro/ These 2 programs should be able to detect adware/pups or trojans.

Those are both is getting hits on a websearch I just did, as being malware. So for starters I would uninstall both of those. There should be options on firefox to uninstall them. Of course malware does not always uninstall easily, but lets start with the basics.

I got this problem for the first time this morning.
Yesterday, Ubisoft's Uplay software updated itself because I wanted to play Assassin's Creed 2.
Turns out, Uplay installed two plugins in Firefox without my knowledge.
Also turns out, one of those plugins is already flagged in Mozilla's database as a security risk.
If you have Uplay installed, check your Firefox plugins (Ctrl+Shift+A, then select Plugins) for these:
- Uplay PC 1.0.0.0
- Uplay PC Hub Plugin 1.0.0.1
Only the first one is recognized by Firefox as a security risk, but I would deactivate both of them. After having done so, I'm still able to play AC2.
Once I deactivated them, the problem disappeared.
