Hi, i m using windows XP with mozilla firefox 16.0.2, all started 3 days ago, i was changing my proxy when i press the home page button and it sent me to mylife.com website.

Now the redirection is not the only issue, in other forums when i press the spoiler tab so it can open and read what is inside anything happen, with pictures i used to see some options to extend them or open a new tab to see them full size, now those options are gone.

I can t use proxies either cuz all the time i got redirected to mylife.com, i only have this issue with firefox, i tried internet explorer and it works normal.

I scanned my PC with malwarebytes but it didn t find anything. i ran the reset search preferences but the problem is still there.

Is there an application that can repair the firefox program ?? or another way to fix this ??

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

I did what you suggested and all works perfect now, but i have to reinstall my extensions to firefox, i made a list of extensions and plug-ins before reseting so it won t be a problem. You really know your stuff.

I have a question after reset firefox to factory defaults i got a new Folder in My desktop called Old Firefox data.

I checked it and it has some files and folders inside it, the folders have the name of some erased extensions, could i copy those files to the new folders of those extension to keep my old preferences (Is it possible?)?? or i just erase them from my desktop ?

Glad it works! The old Firefox data is a folder with a backup of your old settings/data, if everything (bookmarks, etc.) transferred you can just delete that folder. You don't want to transfer the extensions as they could have been the cause of the problem in the old folder.

Ok, i tried to erase the "old firefox data" folder from my desktop but i always got a message saying that another program is using it, i close firefox and any other program but i still can t delete that folder. By the other hand all the files inside it were deleted. So i can t delete an empty folder??

Restart your PC, then try to delete that folder again.
