Downloading is not enough, you need to have it installed. First thing to check is: is the extension installed at the moment? Have a look at Tools > Addons and browse the list FYI I just installed ver. 1.0.3 from this page https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/tabcounter/ and everything seems to work as expected. Please describe more precisely and tell us here.
ah it seems it is another tab counter extension you are complaining about https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/tab-counter/ My suggestions are the same anyhow. I also installed it and found it worked normally.
Ive just set the pc up last night so nothing on it and just looked where you said and only 5 things there mcafee, google, silverlight plug in and metastream 3 plugin thats it. This is what i'm trying to get https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/tab-counter/
Ok you should better click on "Extensions" instead of "Plugins" when you are in Addon manager. Please tell if Tab counter is in the extensions list.
only 2 mcafee things on extensions thats it
So Tab counter extension is *not* installed yet, you should try again from this page https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/tab-counter/ and follow every step onto installation
Yep that's the one that I have tried downloading from press download then press download anyway then it goes download at the bottom left hand corner like its downloaded I click on it and then it comes up with this C:\users\alison\downloads\tabs-counter-1.9.3-fx +sm(8).xpi Application not found
thats what I get thanks foir helping me
click directly on this link https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/downloads/latest/4346/addon-4346-latest.xpi?src=dp-btn-primary (nothing dangerous, just the original source of the extension) and *don't do anything*, just tell me what kind of alert/window/prompt is displayed on your screen. I stay tuned.
no previous warning message asking you to "authorize" the download? do you mean the file is automatically downloaded in your download directory?
If so goto Tools > Options > General and check the option "Always ask" for the downloading process
nothing not a warning until I click to open and yeah the download is listed in there
right done that so should I try again now
Ok try this: in your Firefox menu, goto File > Open file and find tab counter xpi in your directory. Confirm OK (or Open) then you should have the installation process beginning
did that and no xpi file there Ive really messed this up havnt I
Ive just found a start button and then said restart and ive done that and its there wahoooooooooooooooo thank you so much for all the help your a star x
mmmh. If you have checked and validated ok the option "Alaways ask" for download, please try once again to click on https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/downloads/latest/4346/addon-4346-latest.xpi?src=dp-btn-primary
ah ok just fine now :)
Yep it works fine now thank you so much
I don't know where it is but there should be a "mark as solved" button available for you on this page, so that your quastion is correctly classified
