Recent crashes of certain multimedia contents (this includes Youtube videos, certain flash games and other applications) in conjunction with Firefox 14 are most probably caused by a recent Flash 11.3 update and/or a malfunctioning Real Player browser plugin.

All my stuff is up-to-date, and the plug-in still crashes, even when I'm not doing anything requiring flash.

So you've tried to install Flash 10.3?

but i was to happy, with the old adobe 10.3 i can't play games on facebook, so i have to choose ;-), games or pictures!!!

Or try Flash 11.2, that may allow you to do both :)

I play an animated game on Facebook called CastleVille, have Firefox 15 and downgraded to Shockwave Flash 10.3 as advised by this site. My game crashes continuously. I used all the updated Flash and it was worse than before. My Firefox is the most up to date one but the Flash is terrible. There surely must be a fix. I can't work like this anymore.

The same thing keeps happening to me when I play games on FB.

I am not fully up-to-date with this issue at present and this thread is now getting older, but I will make a quick comment.

Note because of a critical security patch I believe official advice will likely be to use the current versions of Flash Player, and if necessary disable protected mode.

I also believe the vulnerability involves an exploit using a malicious document, some users may consider investigating that and weighing up the risks that are taken if an older version of Flash is used.

I just don't get it. With all the huge advances in technology, why is FLASH still the bug in the works?? Why has it been so impossible to create a plug-in that will do what it does, without the incessant issues with every browser that it seems to create? As a non-geek, I don't see why this one aspect is so seemingly impossible to figure out & get right...

This is not really the place for such a discussion. You will need to find somewhere else to get information and talk about what is happening, but a lot is happening.

Very briefly part of the problem is that Flash is commercial and very popular propriety software that is installed on many browsers. Alternatives may evolve possibly HTML5 based. Mozilla Firefox is heavily involved with such things. I have already seen some demonstrations.

With Firefox, our plan is to ship full WebRTC support in Firefox 18, in the beginning of January next year.
I and many others already have development Versions of Firefox 18 installed right now.

I can't believe that this is still happening after months and months of complaints and user generated crash reports.

I have been a user of Firefox since it's birth many years ago but sadly today the time has come to delete it from my computers and move to Chrome, (as long as I can override the dreaded Bing search engine).

It's a sad day but I've waited long enough and suffered more crashes than Eddie Kidd.

Sorry you are unhappy with the situation.

If you have crashes one step you could take is to start your own thread by asking a question. Use /questions/new. You need to do more than merely submit crash reports if you need assistance with a crash! There are workarounds for some of these issues. In particular disabling Flash Player's protected mode may well help.

There are limits to what Mozilla Firefox may do as the FlashPlayer software is developed by another entity Adobe.

If you have chosen to use Chrome then good luck; although you may not have the same range of software extensions at least you will get an integrated FlashPlayer that may well be crash free. It could be worth baring in mind that you may install more than one browser on a computer and so you could continue to use Firefox for day to day browsing, and use Chrome for Flash Player content.
