Whenever I install a Flash update, it asks me how I want to do updates, and I tell it to notify me. Not sure how you change that option after installation...

Flash objects will not load correctly. Images appear for a fraction of a second and won't stay loaded. Video won't play but audio will. Only fix is to restart with add-ons disabled. Stupid.

If you can't get Flash 11.3 to work and need to revert to Flash 11.2 then you can download the Flash 11.2 player via this direct link:

You need to uninstall the Flash 11.3 version.

I found that disabling the download function in Realplayer fixed it for me. To be honest, I was about to remove Firefox from my system having spent well over an hour trying to find a solution..

The answer is here: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1018071

Thanks for the link Busby - most useful. Afraid I did give up, could not be bothered to un-install and re-install earlier versions of programs which had been suggested & am now using Chrome. Have to say that although it took me a while to set it up the way I wanted, I like it & think I will stay with it for a while at least.

I suppose I'm a bit lazy having got Firefox the way I want it, having to import all my bookmarks, Skipscreen for Chrome etc, I've taken the easy option for me..

Adobe has just release an update to Flash that is supposed to fix the crashing issues. You can find the release notes here:

http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/release-note/enduser-release-notes-11_3.html

Anyone interested in trying the fix can get if from the Adobe website. You won't get an auto prompt at this point. If you downgraded to 10.x you won't get the update ever, so please be aware of that.

Make sure you uncheck any other software they might try to bundle with the download if you don't want it on your computer.

Please post back on if this works or not. Any feedback would be helpful!

Tried this, didn't help, off to Chrome...

a) search the file mms.cfg

in my case is in : C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash\mms.cfg (windows 7 64bits) in windows 32 bits it could exists in c:\windows\system32

b) open it with the notepad and it should looks like

AutoUpdateDisable=1

SilentAutoUpdateEnable=0

c) add the next line:

ProtectedMode=0

so ,mms.cfg should looks like

AutoUpdateDisable=0

SilentAutoUpdateEnable=1

ProtectedMode=0

and save it.

reopen firefox and that's it, a 100% functional firefox again.

As a footnote to Khorne's pose, if Windows will not allow you to save changes to a file in that folder, you can Save As into another location such as the desktop, and then drag the file back to its correct location.

Thanks Khorne, that actually worked.

I still can't understand how the Firefox+Flash combination, used by millions of users could be buggy for so long. Please Flash, just die.

I have tried the "flash player" uninstall and installing a lower version of it. Adobe Flash Player 10.3 only worked for me for about a day, and goes back to crashing again. I just installed the 11.2 this morning, so far it is working fine. Still under observation. Pmt

I really liked Firefox but the crashing and slowness is killing me. Going to have to use Chrome or the dreaded Internet Explorer.

5 days later. Everything is good. I never encountered any crash or slowness in any flash app. Sometimes videos on youtube has a glitch, not sure if it is related to our issue. pmt

I uninstalled Adobe Flash 11.3 and installed 10.3. Firefox 13.01 still keeps crashing. This happens on my work laptop (Dell) and my home laptop (Acer). Can't help but to notice that Firefox keeps increasing the amount of memory after it loads (if it loads). Like a runaway train! I think the problem is Firefox, since the Adobe 10.3 doesn't work either. Any idea of when this will be fixed? Or do I commit to Internet Explorer to cure the recent bug trend of Firefox?

Am afraid I gave up & switched to Chrome a couple of weeks ago. Has given me no problems so far (touch wood!) & don't think I will be switching back to Firefox.

Update

As far as I am aware any updates released to date by Flash Player have NOT yet fixed the Flash 11.3 problems, and Firefox has not managed to do anything to fix the problem,

By all means read this thread for the information it contains, and should you discover a fix post about it, but if you have a problem of your own please post in a new thread of your own by using the link

Note Firefox 14 will soon be released. (I can not say I personally have noticed any mention of a fix in the new Firefox release).

a) it is not a firefox problem but a flash problem, Check my solution that i wrote a couple of weeks ago. b) firefox 14 will not fix the problem, right now, i am using firefox 14-BETA and the problem is still present, however i can solve editing a single file.

Thanks Khorne, but your solution is not working for me. Still crashes after I modified that file.
