My tabs open up into http://www.searchqu.com/102?tag=newtab. How do I reset this to my original settings?
About 1 week ago my new tabs started opening up in something called searchqu. it looked similar to Google originally so I didn't take much notice. I'm using Firefox 7.01 on Windows Vista. the same thing happened on IE9 but that was easy to reset. i can't find how to reset the default webpage for each tab when using Firfox

Do a malware check with some malware scan programs. You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of the database before doing a scan.

Thanks. I did all of those checks and seemed to get rid of quite a bit of trash. I also downloaded Firefox 8.01 in the process. I don't know which bit actually cured the problem but it seems to have gone away. At least for the moment.
Thanks again.
I don't get it... I have the same problem as a number of people regarding 'searchqu'. Mozilla Corporation seems to have a total Laissez-faire attitude Regarding providing the public a real fix for the problem -- I've tried a number of the fixes listed on this site and nothing seems to cure the problem. I would like to use Mozilla because it has some great features. But this is a real disincentive, i.e. if something this stupid can take over and Mozilla Corporation doesn't offer any assistance ....????
I really appreciate your frustration. At the moment the problem seems to be cured but, like you, I find it rather irksome that my settings can be altered with such apparent ease. Iwould like to think that Mozilla are as concerned as we are!!

Searchqu belongs to Adware that must be removed as soon as possible. Unfortunately, no antivirus can handle with it automatically. Solution here: http://www.removemalwarespyware.com/how-to-remove-searchqu-searchqu-removal/ It is the best manual way. You can have a try.
This hijack drove me crazy for a week. Then I found it. Use a file manager to navigate to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Searchqu Toolbar\ There is an uninstall icon which removes it.
If you cant find searchqu in your list of programs in Control Panel, try "Windows iLivid Toolbar" by Bandoo. When you click to uninstall, it asks if you are sure you want to remove Windows Searchqu Toolbar.

Hi, My name is John, and I'm a member of the Searchqu Support Team. I'm here to help :) When jzip installs onto your pc it offered two basic installs, typical installation, which lists the add-on features such as searchqu search default, and custom installation, which allows you to select the add-ons that you wish to install. There's no need to worry if you did the typical install - this isn't a virus, nor malware, and there's no need to Perform a virus scan against it. In order to change the new tab default please check: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/newtaburl/
We are here to assist with any further question :) The Searchqu support team.
