I have the latest version of java for mac, but FF says it need updating, and when I try to play pogogames, FF crashes.

I am using OS lion (OS 10.7.2), 64 bit. I have the correct java version listed first in preferences. I reinstalled the latest version of java to make sure. It works just fine with Safari but when I try to open something that requires java in FF, it crashes. This started today, on both of my macbook pros. When I check FF Tools, add-ons and check to see what is up to date, it has some strange version of java listed and says it is out of date.
