I'm running Mac OS X 10.4.11 on a G5 (1GB RAM) and Firefox 3.6.23, the latest update, keeps crashing. 2 or 3 times today. Hard to work with constant crashes. How can I fix this. Your FAQ say I should upgrade my software which can't be upgraded any further. Does this mean upgrade to OS X 10.5 (Leopard) and then download Firefox 4 as it doesn't run on 10.4?

Unfortunately, on a G5 processor you can no upgrade past the latest release of version 3.6

1. Not sure what the first one means. I've sent crash reports be4 and got no replies.

2. I may sound like a dummy but what does Safe Mode mean and how can I start Ff 3 in it? Though I see the link you provided, thanx. Firefox is my default browser and has been since Ff 1 was launched in 2004. I've had evry upgrade. Be4 that I ran ME1-5 til I started using early Mozilla browsers, tried Opera and even Apple's own Safari which I don't like very much at least older versions and I'm not sure it does restores.

But what I liked about Firefox was its speed and bookmarking. And over the past few years, if you shut down your Mac while on the Web, when you restarted and launched in 2 and then 3, you could do a full restore of all your open web pages. The crashes started fairly recently. I think it could be a virus but Macs tend to be virus free and I've done virus scans. And it could be some bad virus software causing the problems. Or, jokingly, the bad weather we're having in northern Europe and England. But I think its finally time to upgrade to OS X 10.5 or get an Intel Core Mac and get Snow Leopard or Lion.

Please read the links I provided.

I need the crash report ids - this is found on the about:crashes page. Instructions at https://developer.mozilla.org/en/How_to_get_a_stacktrace_for_a_bug_report

Safe Mode instructions at https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe%20Mode#os=mac&browser=fx35

I have read the Safe Mode link and followed the instructions. Did a Quit Firefox and Option key restart and now I assume I'm in Safe Mode. We'll see how it goes. I think I was having the crashes because I was typing on a forum tonight and had several pages open including a Restore session that wasn't opened and had another crash wiping out everything. Tried to restore it and got a blank text box. I think all this used up cache tends to use a lot of memory and slows down my Mac.

Thanx for your link. Yesterday I was thinking of quiting Firefox and going back to Safari. Now I'll stick with it. This is a very helpful forum. I like the format.
