FF5 didn't work for me because of the add-ons that still aren't compatible with it. FF6 was even worse. I've now gone back to 3.6. I'll stay with that as long as it's supported. If the add-on issues and other bugs haven't been fixed by that point, I'll move on to another browser. I just don't understand why, after all these years, FireFox has suddenly become so unstable and user-UNfriendly.

Thank you all! I had a hunch it was FF6 causing my issues. I, too, jumped through some of the endless hoops to no avail - which shouldn't be necessary with ANY upgrade. It's unfortunate that Mozilla hasn't addressed the issue, yet. I'm sure they will eventually...?

mha007:

I created a new profile and imported only bookmarks (not passwords or other settings), but I still have the same problems. If anything, it seems worse under 7.01. 5x was the last time FF worked well for me. I don't have these problems with IE or Chrome.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks,

-> Is my Firefox problem a result of MALWARE ??

-> Do a MALWARE check with these Malware Scanning programs. You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. Make sure that you UPDATE each program to get the latest version of their Databases before doing a Scan. Also, Close All other Applications (softwares) before Starting to Run Scans.

Check and tell if its working.

Already have, and do so on a regular basis (except for the Super Antispyware and Windows Defender, which I'll try now). I also use Norton Internet Security. When I first started having the problems, I did full scans to look for malware.

I installed SuperAntiSpyware and Microsoft Security Essentials, and ran scans with each; and I reran Anti-Malware, Spybot, Ad-Aware, and Norton scans. Only a few tracking cookies found.

Your Malware undetectable by most anti-malware programs (maybe because randomly named) is still present and has other hidden symptoms.

If this Malware is a Rookit, try this free Kapersky's tool.

Check and tell if its working.

Ran the Kapersky's tool, and found no threats

I also ran a PC Tools Spyware Doctor scan and found nothing, and upgraded Norton Internet Security to the 2012 version and ran a scan. Norton did find what it id'd as a Trojan.Maljava file in a Sun subfolder.
