There is no sync tab in the preferences pane. I am running firefox 5.0.1 for mac
When I go to set up firefox sync there is no sync menu in the preferences pane. There is still an option under tools to "sync now" but it does not appear to do anything. I am running firefox 5.0.1 for mac.

I suggest to create a new profile and import the important data from the actual one: Take a look to this article: Recover important data from an old profile
Also you should upgrade to Firefox 6.

A screenshot would be helpful here.
Do you have the Sync Add On installed? If so, please uninstall it because you don't need it for versions 4 and above.
Make sure you follow the steps described here to launch the Preference panel: How do I set up Sync on my computer?
Here is a screenshot of my preferences pane. I used to have the sync add on installed but it is no longer listed on my add ons page. Could it still be installed even though it is not listed?
Hi!
This is indeed, really weird. Let's try to find the solution.
Possibly an add-on is blocking the tab. I will ask you 2 different things. In one hand, if you could post here the list of add-ons and extensions that you are using, we can try to find any conflicting piece of software there. And screenshot of the Add-ons manager should be enough.
In the other hand, please, try to start your browser in Safe Mode and see if that helps: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode
And please, doublecheck that you haven't downgraded to Firefox 3.6 by accident (anything below FF 4 doesn't have the feature integrated).
When I entered in safe mode the sync tab was there. Here are screen shots of my addons and the about firefox window. Thanks so much for your help.
Hi!
So it must be one of your Add-ons that is messing around with the visualization. I tried to replicate your set up myself but I have no problem viewing the tab.
If you want to dig it further, try to disable your add-ons and activate them one by one until you find the one that is guilty. If you could do that and share your findings, I will talk to the developers to find a solution.
I disabled all of my addons manually and changed the theme back to the default and the option was still not there. The sync tab seems to only appear when I open firefox in safe mode.

Making a new profile worked. Thanks so much!
