I HAD updates turned off, but apparently not (in options, etc). Today Firefox automatically updated to 5.0 and now my Vipre antivirus cannot update. Nor can I go to the Vipre homepage nor ANY antivirus website (norton, etc.) This happened a few months ago, when I was forced to update to the latest version of firefox!! At that time, Vipre helped me; but now I know the problem is firefox.

What is going on??? A friend of mine doesn't have Vipre, but she was forced to update and now her Norton isn't working nor can she go to their website either.

Last time it took Vipre (Sunbelt) 3 days and about 8 hours of remote sessions to resolve the problem. What is causing this in Firefox?? And what can I do, besides getting rid of firefox--which i do not want to do, but i do not want to go through this every time i'm forced to get an update.....

i'd also like to know how to PERMANENTLY turn off updates! (i went through tools, options, turned them off---it STILL updated!)
