Just updated, as requested, to FF v5.0 and it deleted my preffered Google Toolbar. Now I try to reinstall this and am informed that it is not compatible with this version of FF. Not very happy about this! So the question is, when will this situation be rectified please?

Until Google updates the compatibility info for their toolbar, you can use the Compatibility Reporter add-on to re-enable and test it in Firefox 5.
