Having trouble getting FF4.0.1 and mobile FF to sync using Win7 & droid 2.2.1

So, just installed FFox4.0.1 and decided to try the sync option with my new droid v. 2.2.1 and ran into a problem. I was following the step-by-step instructions on my laptop FF, got my mobile code - fine. Then I go to my droid and, following the instructions on my laptop, reach the sync window, where I get ANOTHER mobile code. Now each device is giving me a unique sync code, but there is no way to add/change to a new code. So, I am not able to sync.

I was wondering if the problem might be that I am using the newest FF release. Within the instructions, there were multiple differences (sub-menus, locations, etc.) that I would usually attribute to a revamp, nothing big, just made me think "this was written using a different FF."

Does anyone have a work around or solution? This isn't exactly life-0r-death, but it would be nice to be able to sync my web history and favorites from one device to the other.

Before connecting your phone to your laptop, you'll need to create a sync account (if you haven't already) and connect your laptop to it. At the "Use Sync to share your Firefox bookmarks, passwords and more with Firefox for mobile" page there are pictures and video, but as you've seen they might be slightly different depending on which Firefox and operating system versions you are using.

If your laptop is giving you a 12-character code, that means the laptop is not yet connected to a sync account. If you previously created a sync account, enter that 12-character code on a computer that is connected to the account. If you have not yet created a sync account, then press the "Create a new account" button in the Sync window on your laptop.
