Firefox takes about 2-3 minutes to start, and won't close unless I force close on my mac. It's been this way for about 5-6 months, and still does the same with firefox 4, how do I fix it? ( OS X 10.5, 4GB RAM)

Every time I start Firefox, it takes a while to boot up, and it NEVER closes unless I force close it. If I have two windows open, closing one of the windows causes the spinning pinwheel to come up, and it takes about a minute to close. It's been this way for 5-6 months now, and I was holding out for Firefox 4, but I was sadly disappointed; boot up takes even longer now.

I have a macbook pro from early 2008 with 4GB of RAM and a 2.5GHz Intel Core2Duo.

I found out what was wrong. It's an ad-on. SoThink Web Video Downloader Not that it is faulty or not compatible, it just keeps a cache of EVERYTHING you visit that is flash. Not just the flash that you download, but any flash on any site you visit. Mine was huge, I emptied it, and the problem stopped.

I have the same issue, but I am on Windows 7 x64 Ultimate. Takes 2-3 minutes to load and often goes unresponsive for several minutes as well.
