Firefox on my Mac has been so slow the past few days, what's going on?
The past week, every time I click on anything - an e-mail in gmail, something on a website I want to go to, the arrow to scroll on a page, the Mac colorwheel comes on and it takes forever. I finally got so frustrated I switched back to my old Safari. But this is a new problem, and I didn't do anything to the computer to cause it. My internet connection is fine (cable) as Safari works great. So what's going on? (I have version 3.5.9)

My first suggestion would be Update Firefox to the latest release as the version you have seems a bit dated.

You should also update Flash.

Start Firefox in Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
- Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
