I can no longer add new bookmarks for newly found favorites sites.

I followed instructions. I manually backed up my bookmarks, then restored them. Now I have no bookmarks showing at all AND I am unable to save any new bookmarks. I tried to restore a second time with no better results. I am using Windows XP and Firefox 3.6.13.

This can be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
