Can't log into gmail account. Taken straight to http://www.landing.savetubevideo.com/ Hitting the back-key in FF takes me back to my gmail page Any form that I try to fill, takes me to the savetube landing page. A blank page with a Google search box. Have run Mcafee, Sophos anti rootkit, MalwareBytes, reset some values in about:config. Still no luck. Thanks

I have the same issue. when I click back it doesn't take me to the page I just loaded but the one previous to that.

I downloaded the Savetube program. but have since deleted it and un installed it reset and still get the same issues. Mallwarebites spybot and AVG find nothing.

Well Ive just uninstalled FF from my control panel programs and removed all traces. including when it asks about cookies and such. and we appear to have cleared the issue.

Probably uninstalling FF maybe the easiest solution, as a last resort. But there should be a more elegant solution. Every time we get hijacked we cant be uninstalling & re-installing FF

I removed all traces of the savetube program. But that has not solved the issue

Malwarebytes, Sophos Anti RootKit & Mcafee have'nt found anything

Been hunting around for solutions to this problem. Yesterday got this URL after a google. But have'nt been able to view the site. The site starts loading, can make out that the same/similar problem is being discussed but suddenly there is a black screen that covers up the page. Strange.

Maybe there is a solution there ?

Just now registered to this site. Still the black screen.

Maybe the key to this problem is the 'keyword.url' The value (now) is: http://www.veerboo.com/results.php?q= This value cannot be reset. Reset it & it comes back in a while. To edit it type about:config in your browser address bar & use filter 'keyword' (Careful do not to change else :-) ) When I reset it I get: http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=navclient&gfns=1&q= This goes back to the veerbo.com value in a few secs Thought this may be of interest

I solved the problem by running Windows Restore to a Restore point dated before I downloaded and installed (and uninstalled) the bad Youtube video downloader software.

Try this. 1. Close all Firefox windows. 2. In Windows XP Open the directory C:\Documents and Settings\yourusername\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\pmdzauas.default\extensions. (Find the suitable path in other OS versions.) 3. Delete the directory SearchHelper. If you're not sure this is the one you should delete, go into the directory. You'll see ???BHO.dll. You may move the directory SearchHelper to another location before permanently deleting it. 4. Start Firefox. 5. Go to Tools->Add-ons menu. 6. Search Result Optimizer (the malware) should disappear.

I tried this and it works.

@preechaw Thanks a bunch, it really did the trick!

Tried it out a few hours ago and so far everything is back to normal. Been searching the net for a solution for almost a week now.

Might be a good idea to remove SaveTubeVideo from: Windows Firewall\Exceptions

HERE'S THE WAY TO REMOVE that annoying savetubevideo.

I tried every malware/etc. removal software. Nothing worked. Finally I downloaded (free for 30 days) revo uninstaller pro. You'll see it listed in your programs in the program. When you tell it to force uninstall it it will tell you that it can't find that programs built in uninstall feature. That's okay. You will then tell it "next" or "continue" and it will find leftover stuff (actually all of it and it will be alot). You will select ALL the boxes and tell it to delete. I did this a couple to times. It will remove all but a couple but it will tell you that once you reboot it will remove those. I did that and it deleted everything. I did one more search which brought up an empty folder for savetubevideo and I easily just deleted it and emptied the trash. Good luck. www.revouninstaller.com (I'm not an affiliate or anything for that site.)
