Hello Alies.

You may be having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?

Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not coming from one of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in safe mode and select Disable all add-ons. If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. See this article for information about troubleshooting extensions and theme. You can troubleshoot plugins the same way.

If you want support for one of your add-ons, you'll need to contact its author.

It also happens for me. It still happens even when running in safe mode with all Add-ons disabled.

Anonymous. Can you please try it in a new (temporary) Firefox profile and see if the issue is still present? See this article to know how to create a new Firefox profile. Please report back the results.

That seems to have avoided the crash.

How can I narrow down what part of my default profile is causing the crash ?

Whoops. Spoke too soon. It still crashed, but in slightly different place.

Originally, if I go to a pdf in my webmail, and then back up two pages (either as a single jump by the pull down, or two individual steps via the back button) it crashes consistently.

With this new profile, that appeared to work okay. I switched to this other tab and did stuff for awhile. When I clicked back onto the Tab where I'd visited the pdf, it crashed.

It appears to be a problem with the PDF viewer trashing memory (or somesuch).

Hi Morbus. Thanx for the suggestion, but no, it doesn't work, still crashes. In my case the pdf viewer doesn't open in e new tab or pdf viewer, it opens in the webmail-template (leftbar you can still navigate the webmail) would that cause the problem?

This is a reply to your first post, Brent. Apparently a new profile doesn't cut it, so I'll reply again, in another post. This may be helpful to some other people, who knows?

Safe mode has a number of options that will hopefully let you do that. Just check the different options when you start safe mode.

It's possible, however, that your profile is corrupt, in some way. However, I can't help you fixing a corrupt profile. What you have to do, in case it's corrupt, is delete a specific file in your profile folder, so it can be renewed, but I can't help you there, as I said. There are other people here who will know.

You may be interested, however, in know how to port information from one profile to another. See this:

Ok, if a new profile profile has the same issue, it's an indicative that it's something outside Firefox that is causing this problem. This may be a plugin (they are installed outside the browser, and new profiles will have all installed plugins enabled), a virus, malware, a firewall/antivirus/security suite, or any other software outside Firefox. It's not a known issue, and I can't replicate it on my end, so you'll have to search for the cause yourself. Do be aware that Firefox's update may have broken something in how other software gets along with Firefox, and that may be the cause of the crashes. Malware too, so do clean your system.

To scan for malware, install, update and run these programs in this order. They are all free for personal use, but some have limited functionality in their "free mode", but the features you'll miss are not really needed to find and remove the problem you have. Remember that not all programs detect the same malware!

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware - malwarebytes.org/mbam.php SuperAntispyware - superantispyware.com AdAware - lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware Spybot Search & Destroy - safer-networking.org/en/index.html Windows Defender - microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/defender/default.mspx Dr. Web Cureit - freedrweb.com/cureit

If these don't find it or can't clear it, please tell me and I'll provide you with further assistance.
