That's weird... It's not showing up in the list...

Go to (am using W7 64bit - if using 32bit just find it):

C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Update\1.2.183.23\npGoogleOneClick8.dll

and delete "npGoogleOneClick8.dll". It removes "Google Update 1.2.183.23" from the Plugins tab. AFAIK, it hasn't affected Google Toolbar in FX. Am using FX3.5.10 and had the same problem.

I found it int he FX profile under "pluginreg.dat". Also, once you remove the .dll, it removes it from the .dat file.

This plug-in usually comes with Google Chrome. Even if you remove that file (npGoogleOneClick8.dll) it will reappear with the next Chrome update.

You can more or less nullify it permanently, AFAICT, by moving %appdata%\..\Local\Google\Update\GoogleUpdate.exe and putting an empty read-only file in its place. Re-place the original as desired to update Google Chrome, et al..

I finally found this and I was able to remove it. You will have to go into the registry so be careful! Go to start, then click on run... and then type regedit to get into the registry. Go into HKEY_CURRENT_USER, then go into Software, then go into the MozillaPlugins folder. In that folder you should see 1 or more folders with the title GoogleUpdater in it and you can safely delete THOSE FOLDERS ONLY! After that, go back into firefox and google updater should be gone.

According to Google's help page (http://support.google.com/installer/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=98805), here is what you have to do to remove the Google Update plugin.

"Google Update can't be removed by itself. If you remove Google Update processes from your computer, you may find that your Google programs no long function properly and, in many cases, you may see Google Update return automatically.

To fully uninstall Google Update, uninstall any Google applications you currently have installed. Approximately an hour after uninstalling your other Google programs, Google Update should be uninstalled automatically."

The above solution removed Google updater permanently for me without risking editing the registry keys. While I was at it, I deleted all things Google from my computer using windows explorer. How dare them edit a registry key. Makes me wonder what else they did without my knowledge. I wouldn't be surprised it I still am infected by hidden Googleware. Sure wish I could blacklist Google as a malicious/spyware with my AV software.

I have this issue with Google update plugin, disabled it and the solutions above do not help. I didn't find any instances of Google in my regit and I never found the plugin on the plugins list in about:plugin. I do have many instances of Quick time plugin
