I have flv movies on my website ie plays them fine, but FF will not, I have tried everything in the faqs like downloading adobe plug in (several times), I have googled the problem, which got a lot of hits, tried various suggestions, but no-one seems to have a solution. I have been busy recomending firefox to many workplaces i have contact with and friends, but perhaps I had better stop doing this.

Can you post a link or the code you use? It is hard to tell what is wrong without being able to check the website and the code.

On this forum you need to use the HTML entity &lt; for "<" and &gt; for ">". Use the CODE button after you have selected the text to put the text in a CODE block

Thanks, This is the first main part of it

Which links through to the player and flv in the folder "vid", which of course is in the same folder.

Again Many Thanks

I will try the code again

<object id="player1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="player_flv_maxi.swf" width="480" height="366"> <param name="movie" value="vid/player_flv_maxi.swf" /> <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain"/> <param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /> <param name="FlashVars" value="configxml=vid/garden.xml" /> </object>

Hi again,

Just to say that I do have that code with the "object" replaced by "embed".

Still does not work !

That code looks OK to me. If all the files are there then a possible cause is that the server has some hot-link protection and requires a referrer. Firefox has a bug and won't send a referrer for the xml file. If that server requires a referrer then it won't work in Firefox.

You can check that with the Live HTTP Header extension. Live Http Headers: http://livehttpheaders.mozdev.org/

Or disable the referrer and see if you can open the vid/garden.xml file in a Firefox tab. See http://kb.mozillazine.org/network.http.sendRefererHeader

Thank You for your kind help, Dont know why, but when I copied the code to another page, the main one to be uploaded, in the same folder, it worked, baffled!!. why would the first one have worked with IE?. Anyway I am happily installing and recommending firefox (and Thunderbird) to PCs at work.

Again many thanks Roger
