Text in the address field cannot be edited

For the past few days, the text in the address bar can no longer be selected or edited using the mouse or keyboard. The “Customize Toolbar” option does not allow you to remove the address bar from the toolbar.

Unfortunately, compatibility mode doesn't help here either. The problem isn't caused by a plugin.

Is there any way to fix this without losing all my Firefox settings and add-ons? I'm hesitant to try repairing Firefox.

There's a bug in default themes on last beta: support.mozilla.org/questions/1596227 — that sounds connected to that, i.e. it's possible you just can't see the highlight color.

(Quick fix: switching themes. e.g. to "Alpenglow")

Thanks—I was actually starting to worry that I might have picked up a Trojan or a virus.

The “Blue” theme works too, and it's not as psychedelic as “Alpenglow.” ;)
