I have a backup file from another thunderbird installation. The profile in this backup contains a file named abook.mab. I suppose this is the address book. I would like to copy the addresses from this installation to my current thunderbird 147.0.1 (64-bit). Tools > import > address book does not work. Can you please advise me?

abook.mab was the addressbook prior to release 78. The current addressbook is abook.sqlite -

Thank you for this comment, I know this fact but I need a solution to import the address intormation contained in the old file to my current thunderbird.

I have the solution — since Thunderbird 78+ no longer supports direct .mab import, you need to convert the old abook.mab file to CSV or LDIF format using a reliable MAB converter (such as SysInfoTools MAB Converter), and then import the converted file into Thunderbird via Address Book → Tools → Import → Text file (CSV/LDIF).

The tools>import>import from a file, will import the mab file.
