Not sure what you mean by logging back into firefox - do you mean firefox closes when you close the last tab?

You need to change a config setting. In url bar type about:config in search bar that appears type browser.tabs scroll to browser.tabs.closeWindowWithLastTab change true to false by double clicking that line or using arrows on right to do so close tab
