I want to preempt certain websites with my search. I am using Firefox with DuckDuckGo browser. Can I do this? Example: Searching for electronic stores but not BestBuy, Amazon, Walmart, etc.

Most search engines support site exclusion (a minus character followed by the site domain). For example:

oled tv -amazon.com -bestbuy.com -walmart.com

Note: it doesn't hide the ads; that's a different issue.

But it's a bit annoying to manage these exclusions in the URL so you could consider using an add-on. I'm aware of two add-ons to block unwanted sites in search results, and one other approach. I don't use either of these extensions myself:

Along the same lines, I have an old solution that runs through a user script engine like Tampermonkey or Violentmonkey. If you already use one of those, maybe this would be efficient for you. More info here: https://www.jeffersonscher.com/gm/google-hit-hider/index.php
