Voice to text
Hello Everybody . I have used Thunderbird for a number of years and I like it and have supported it from time to time with donations . I am a person with dyslexia and their a lot of people with this problem . more than you would think . The one thing that I think would be nice is to have a speech to text as part of Thunderbird . It would be a big help to us with dyslexia . Thank you for letting me bend your ear .
Robert

There is a nice product, Dragon NaturallySpeaking, that does this well.

Hi David . Thank you for the information about that program . I am pushing the hell out of eighty and getting one program to work with a another program is above my pay grade and having dyslexia doesn't help . Robert
I suggest you try it. There is no software interface to hook up; you just talk and it converts to text. A disabled woman in early 80s needed voice to text and I installed for her and she just starts Dragon software, starts thunderbird, clicks the 'new message' button and starts talking. For her, I located a new copy Version 13 (but several years old) on ebay and she's very happy. I just checked and prices go from $30 on up. I suggest buying an unopened one, and I think they come with microphones, but possibly not needed with newer PCs that have them built in. As a tip, her only problem was to click the voice-to-text feature OFF when not dictating, as Dragon keeps on typing... :)
