The latest Thunderbird releases have been crashing regularly, with these submitted reports. I'm trying to ascertain what I need to do to mitigate or eliminate the crashes.

Almost every one of those crashes has a different crash signature, with uptime of 15 minutes to a day (on average), and none have bug reports.
Some show no add-ons running, so you have tried Thunderbird in Troubleshoot Mode? But some do: duplicateContactsManager@ddvo.net duplicateContactsManager 2.1.1 mailmerge@example.net Mail Merge 10.5.0 {2ab1b709-ba03-4361-abf9-c50b964ff75d} Signature Switch 2.18.1 {8845E3B3-E8FB-40E2-95E9-EC40294818C4} Quicktext
My money is on Bitdefender, or whatever is installed for 3DCONNEXION S.A.M. Try Windows start Windows in safe mode with networking enabled - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12376/windows-10-start-your-pc-in-safe-mode
Thanks,
Huzzah! This is interesting because BitDefender isn't installed on this PC, but crash reports shows two .dll files related to BitDefender: gemmauf64.dll and bdhkm64.dll
I'll do a seek and find on where those .dlls are located. Maybe I'll find something under that rock. ;-)
Still no luck. I've had 14 crashes in the last 2 days. I've disabled the Active Protect on Vipre (I learned that they use Bitdefender's module for this), and am working with 3DConnexion to see if they can offer assistance. In the meanwhile, can someone please explain where to look in the crash reports for the most viable suspect for the specific crash? The popup crash details often don't exactly correspond with the crash report itself. I need help navigating these crash report tabs to try and pinpoint the issue: Details; Crash annotations; Bugzilla; Modules; Raw Data and minidumps; Extensions; Telemetry Environment; Correlations; or Debug.
thanks again
Circling back on this ... something related to Bitdefender SRL is definitely there. But all of those crash signature are extremely rare.
Have you crashed in the last 2-4 weeks?
Thanks for circling back...Yes, eight times between 25 February and 19 March. I just noticed they had not been submitted, but they are now submitted - listed here, newest to oldest;

FYI, I've also had three recent instances of Vipre Advanced Protection crashing (01 March, 12 March, and 15 March), with advice to submit a .dmp file, which I've done for all three but without response. I'm getting back around to following up with them today, too.

Thanks for the list. Every one has a different crash signature, much like your previous set. Only a few have bug reports, and most of those suggest bad hardware as the cause. If not that, just random memory corruption.
I've uninstalled Vipre, to rule it out. I am now running MS Defender (Win10 built-in AV). This is the list of crashes from today - all of them were unable to submit automatically, so I had to manually submit them. Anyone see a common denominator with any of them?

Also, what does the error in the screen shot indicate? This is what I receive when TB crashes.

Sorry if this is a duplicated reply - I'd posted something about an hour ago and then came back to edit it, but it did not reappear in the thread after editing.
I've uninstalled Vipre and am now using the Windows 10 built-in AV with Cloud Delivered protection and automatic sample submission disabled. I've had numerous crashes today - all of the with the error shown in the attached screenshot. Here are the crash reports - all manually submitted on two separate occasions today (all of those shown as submitted at 10:11 PM occurred within 10 minutes or so of each other, and (so far) I cannot restart TB in safe mode without it crashing.

Various crash signatures again. No Smoking Gun.
Does the crashing stop if you do Help > Troubleshoot mode?
It does not - I get those errors saying the crash report can't be sent, because it expected something at line 1.
It does stop if I restart in Windows Safe Mode, so I am investigating it from that perspective now,

This should indicate the cause to be something that starts when Windows is started, like antivirus software.
I agree, it's just a tedious process to find out what and why.
I'll keep this thread posted on progress. So far, I can confirm I have no issues when starting windows in Safe Mode
Stand by as I test TB running in Windows Safe Mode, compared to running in a full boot mode. I'm definitely onto killing the normal windows start operations such as intel graphics, Nord VPN and NordLocker. I've already killed Vipre antivirus, though I hated to do it because it has run on my system issue free for almost 20 years without issue. Wah wah ;-)
OK, I've taken windows safe boot down to nothing loads on startup. TB runs in windows safe boot mode. Starting normally TB crashes. It won't enter troubleshooting mode either from the application (it crashes immediately) or from the Shift+ method (also crashes immediately). Over the past 3 days I have about 150 crash reports. As I type this, I am in full boot mode after disabling every single startup application. My crashes don't automatically submit, so I manually submit them. I get BSOD with any of the following errors:
- APCINDEX_MISMATCH (this seems to be a more common error so far)
- NTFS.SYS (two of these)
- DPC WATCHDOG VIOLATIONDXGMMS2.SYS (interloper)
- RESOURCE NOT OWNED (two of these)
- IRQL GT ZERO AT SYSTEM SERVICE (interloper)
- WIN32KFULL.SYS (two of these)
I have not yet tried starting TB yet, but will now, while the reply is open...Ready...set...launch. I've uploaded the screen shot of the popup message. I'll have to restart in safe boot mode to send the remaining unsent crash reports. I have moved my TB profile off of the HDD it had lived on for 20 years, to a new drive, to rule out profile, and drive. I think I am headed toward either RAM or the OS NVM drive as my next attempt at resolving this tomfoolery! ;-) I'm in it to win it....
Needless to say, I'm at my wits end.
