I've encountered this for years and it's upset me so much I'm sending you guys a message.

Here's what's happening: 1) I boot up Firefox (takes 2 seconds) 2) I quickly scan your stories (Some of your stories are interesting) takes 2 seconds 3) I click a bookmark then think "wait, i'm curious about that story" so i hit back 4) ALL OF THE STORIES ARE REFRESHED and the story is just completely gone

You can make it a habit to open shortcut links and bookmark in a new tab. For bookmarks there is the browser.tabs.loadBookmarksInTabs pref in about:config to force open the link in a new tab. For other links you can middle-click with the mouse wheel or hold the Ctrl key and left-click or use the context menu to open the link in a new tab.
