I have just udated nightly. the tab hover shows a bunch of useless info. is there a way to get rid of it? apart from the image, that seems to be tweaked ibn settings for now, I don't need such a verbose mode. every usual surfer needs just and extended reading of the page title, that is usually cut when you have many tabs. I switched to FF because chrome conf made it unusable. hope FF isn't going into the same direction. Thanks for any help. andrea.

Enter about:config in the address bar and flip browser.tabs.cardPreview.enabled to false.

So you switched to using Firefox and using the more unstable Nightly development channel builds? https://wiki.mozilla.org/Nightly

The Nightly development channel has always been more for Testers and Developers in mind and not for regular Firefox users. The Nightly development channel gets checkins with two updates each day as a result with maybe the occasional respin build. While this may be a way to see new changes and features in the works early it can also lead to issues until it is fixed, finished or reverted.

Perhaps use the Release versions or the Beta channel builds at most (generally gets nine builds for each version) if you want stability. https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/#product-desktop-release

Also so you know as a new user, the proper abbreviation for Firefox is Fx as Mozilla used to put this detail in Release notes long ago.

Note that the cardPreview prefs have been renamed to hoverPreview in Nightly 128.

  • browser.tabs.hoverPreview.enabled
  • browser.tabs.hoverPreview.showThumbnails
