I started Firefox and left the room. When I returned it asked me if I wanted to "Refresh" Firefox. I said yes. Now I have lost my bookmarks, history, etc. I have a profile from a backup. But learned I can't just move it into "Profiles" directory.' I've tried removing/reinstalling Firefox, etc. etc. As it is now, I have a Firefox that tries to start, but says "your profile can't be loaded." How do I reinstall my backups and history, etc.? I have RTFM, but it just dug me in deeper.

All help's appreciated. (Will be away until tomorrow morning) -Dennis

What I do when something goes awry (I would never use 'Refresh') is this. 1. I move the dud profile to another location. 2. I move a good profile (from backup) to where the dud was. 3. I replace certain files in the good profile with up to date files from the dud — such as cookies, bookmarks. 4. I install any extensions not in the old profile. You have to do all that with Firefox closed. The second link below has a section on how to find the profile with Firefox closed.
