This has only occurred with the newest release. I have uninstalled and reinstalled NUMEROUS times.

What is happening is that with ANY gmail account (does not occur with any other email accts, so it's not an issue of I'm doing something wrong), when I go to check the password and it is supposed to log into Gmail to ALLOW THUNDERBIRD blah blah blah, the local host window is black and never does anything.

I have checked the NUMEROUS other people who have the same issue, and seen a long list of supposed solutions, so to help anyone who attempts to help, please know:

Yes, I've deleted my profile in app data and started over Yes, I have removed the duplicate account Yes, I've uninstalled and reinstalled Yes, I have also deleted all instances of Thunderbird Yes, I have tried to add a 1 to combat the duplicate account Yes, I have tried to open the allow local link on a browser Yes, I have it as OAUTH2 Yes, I have retested and manually configured Yes, I've installed an older version of Thunderbird (still doing it) Yes, I've tried all other gmail accounts

It's obvious to me that this is a major issue that a ton of people are experiencing, but no one has seemed to truly find a fix.

But please, if ANYONE can come up with something that works, help. Because I work from home w/numerous companies and I need Thunderbird to check all those emails regularly!!

Do NOT include password during setup. Wait until account is confirmed and you are prompted when attempted to retrieve messages.

Okay, thank you. I will try it.

But will I have to do that every single time I open / check email, or just in initial set up?

I literally just reset my entire PC (for a different reason) so I will be starting fresh right now.

Just for setup.

Whether or not you enter the password is not relevant. This looks like a display issue, possibly due to an incorrect setting. Try adding the account in safe/troubleshoot mode (hold Shift when launching TB) to apply the standard theme, among other factors. Also, make sure cookies are accepted in TB Privacy & Security settings.

If it still doesn't work, consider running Windows in safe mode to eliminate possible interference from antivirus or VPN, if you have one.

No, that was not the issue. It's not a problem on my end or in any of my settings. There are at least 100 other people who have had the same issue and who have done everything to fix it. It appears to be a problem with the server / google page and the oauth2 setting.

This was on a fresh install of windows 11 and it was literally the first thing I added to the computer.

I had already done everything you suggested previously, as I did a LOT of research on this issue beforehand. ALL of my settings were correct. The only thing that worked was bypassing adding the password, as david mentioned.

It's obviously still a big problem that should be fixed in the next version, but at least I was able to add all my emails accounts.
