On Monday September 25th from 10PM EDT - 12AM EDT (2AM UTC - 4AM UTC on September 26th), we will be performing system maintenance on the Firefox Accounts databases for two hours. During the maintenance window, there will be brief periods of a few minutes where users will not be able to login to their accounts. Please try again at a later time.

Bookmarks don't get deleted unless it crashed during save or the user removed bookmarks. And cache/history clearing doesn't remove saved logins. If you didn't set AutoFill or AutoSave login then not logins will be saved when close the browser.

Clear recent history (History menu or ctl+shft+del) enables you to remove cookies and keep logins. Deleting data has, it seems, been made more complicated with version 102 but I am still looking into that.

Note that there is a difference between logins (logins.json and key4.db) and session cookies that website use to login and remember you. You normally can't remove logins when you close Firefox, but you can remove or let expire cookies including the session cookies what will cause a website to forger about you and requires to login again on the next visit.

Detail like websites remembering you and log you in automatically is stored in cookies, so make sure you aren't clearing important cookies.

You can use these steps to make a website recognize and remember you.

  • create a cookie allow exception with the proper protocol (https:// or http://) to make a website remember you

You can check that you aren't clearing important cookies.

  • using "Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed" keeps cookies with an allow exception
  • using "Clear history when Firefox closes" to clear cookies clears all cookies including cookies with an allow exception you may want to keep
  • clearing "Site Preferences" clears exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, and software installation and exceptions for passwords and other website specific data
  • Settings -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data: "Manage Exceptions"
  • Settings -> Privacy & Security
    Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history":
    [X] "Clear history when Firefox closes" -> Settings
