Random high-cpu use (25% CPU average) in thunderbird.exe module..sometimes lasts for several minutes (not useable) ...then it clears up...Using current version 91.10.0.810...but has been happening for last 2 years at least. Any ideas ?? .... Can't seem to find what exactly causes it to start/end...not sure what "triggers" it ? Using WINDOWS 10 PC.... Thanx....

Before you start. Do you have search folders? Do you have 8Gb or more of ram in your computer? do you have folders with tens of thousands of emails in them?

Otherwise. try the steps here https://wiki.mozilla.org/Thunderbird:Testing:Memory_Usage_Problems

I know it is about memory, but high CPU almost always links back to a memory shortage (maybe based on your usage patterns)

Thanx for your reply... 1) No use of "search folders" that I'm aware of...just normal INBOX msg filters ? 2) The files with the largest # of entries are my INBOX & SENT folders (about 1300 each)...

3) Here's snapshot of my system info...
