Outgoing emails through gmail suddenly stopped working
Have been using gmail on Thunderbird for years. But suddenly I find incoming and outgoing messages have stopped working. Every time get the message that the password is incorrect when I know it is correct since is working on other platforms. Looked online wasting hrs trying to fix. Server originally set to normal password, flipped to Oauth2 and removed all saved IMAP, Oauth2 and SMTP passwords as suggested on a previous mozilla answer to a similar problem. This has fixed the incoming email problem so I can now receive emails but cannot send so the problem remains. Cannot remove the account and reload since a large number of the 10,000's of emails, are held on Thunderbird alone. The total randomness of the problem, with no warning whatsoever, Is extremely inconvenient and no doubt lost on those IT professionals who strive to change what already works. Any assistance would be greatfully received.

Check your smtp server settings. From several others who have posted similar problems, the smtp server was often still set at 'normal password' and not Oauth.

I have checked the settings on my outgoing server and verified they are correct.
I also have a corporate gmail account and have the same issue. I checked that one and still not able to send.
I was able to delete my personal account and the outgoing server and re-created them. Still no joy.
I have had the same problem for a week or so. I've tried all solutions suggested and had no success. The problem exists on several computers and has only just started, without any changes to my settings.
I have looked and can't see any changes to Gmail settings.
I have tried it VPN, virus and firewall software off - no success
I rely on Thuderbird because it has been so stable for years - this is very frustrating!
