Importing Mail folders from Mac Mail

I have many folders in my "Mac Mail" (on a MacBook Pro, running HighSierra) which I want to import into Thunderbird. I exported them to a folder on my desktop and then tried to use Thunderbird to import them. When I do this, nothing results.

I noted that during the import, Thunderbird did not ask me where the folders should be found. Is it assuming the folders live in the "V2" folder in the Library? For some reason, my folders are stored in a "V5" folder.

Note I am being forced to move from Mail as Google has stopped working with Mac Mail. I'm hoping Thunderbird will be a good solution, but recreating all those folders would be a nightmare! Fingers crossed someone can provide me a fix for this issue.

Thank you!
