Windows 10 did an upgrade on 5/13/22 (today is 5/15/22), and when I restarted my laptop, and opened Firefox, my Firefox profile was gone. I searched "about:profiles" and there is 1 default profile listed. When I clicked on "Open Folder", Firefox browser does not open. I need help trying to find my profile!

Isisombululo esikhethiwe

Check out the links I posted. It might be the profile is unregistered.

Also, Sometimes when the browser thinks there is a problem with the profile, it will create a new one.

Look on your desktop. Do you see a folder called; Old Firefox? Look inside. Look for the folder with the latest creation date.

Type about:profiles<enter> in the address box. How many profiles are listed? How many should be there? Also, open the profile folder in your file explorer.

Thanks, Fred McD, for responding. I have attempted to locate my profile by searching about:profiles. The result is only 1 profile, and I don't see anyway to open it from this screen. I am attaching a screenshot, in case this may help you help me!

Thanks again for all your help. I read and re-read all the links, and I believe it was in Troubleshooting where I was able to get the Old Firefox folder restored onto the Desktop. I then just copied and pasted into a new profile. I now have my Profile back, with the exception of the bookmarks. Now if I just knew how this happened in the first place!

Restore Bookmark Backups

Firefox automatically makes backups of the bookmarks. These are stored in the bookmarkbackups folder.

Open the Bookmarks Manager; Press the Alt or F10 key to bring up the toolbar, and select Bookmarks. Hot key is <Control> (Mac=<Command>) <Shift> B. Firefox 84+ <Control> (Mac=<Command>) <Shift> O.

Once the window is open, at the top of the page, press the button labeled Import and Backup. Select Restore. From the list, pick the file you want and click it.

The backups are stored in a jsonlz4 file named something like this; bookmarks-2016-06-29_1424_enD1GTH ya0JmicnYWg4V4g==.jsonlz4

In this example; 2016-06-29 = date created 1424 = number of entries.
