went to profile folder and found prefs.js file

and added user_pref("gfx.direct2d.disabled", true); line and saved the file from notepad..,

still no luck..started thunderbird and it crashed again like the usual window was seemed to open and gone..

also looked up for xulstore.json in profile folder but there is no file like that...only extensions.json, times.json and etc..

What can i try else ? still -safe-mode crashes too

I was able to start with -safe-mode when i was on previous Thunderbird installation and with my backed up profile.. Since i deleted the profile and re installed thunderbird, now i cannot start thunderbird normally or in safe mode

Look again for xulstore.json, the file that stores the layout settings, and is in every TB profile.

See if you can create a new profile by opening a Run window (Winkey+R) and typing

thunderbird.exe -p

yes i tried that too but i enter the command and just when i see the window "choose your profile" at that instant it crashes again then continues crash reporter..

like i said its now a fresh install thats probably why there is no xulstore.json file in profiles folder

another update.. i renamed my zero profile thunderbird folder to thunderbird2 and then i copied my old backed up thunderbird profile to appdata\roaming\thunderbird now i can go into -safe-mode

I don't know what has happened with deleting profiles and making backups. Go back to where you can start TB in safe mode, or move the Thunderbird folder out of .../AppData/Roaming and start again.

Did you disable hardware acceleration as explained above and delete xulstore.json, and try to start in normal mode?

in my old profile, i disabled hardware acceleration.. i went to profile folder to look for xulstore.json and no there is no file like that..i attached the screenshot of the *.json files for you to see. still thunderbird doesnt start..it only starts with -safe-mode (in troubleshooting mode)

Time to cut your losses and create a new profile, which will have all the standard files. You might have to move the Thunderbird folder out of Roaming again to get a clean start. Don't bother trying to revive the old profile, but you can transfer the local mail to the new profile if the new one works.

then i start thunderbird, i see that thunderbird creates a new directory with new profile data but it crashes again! Thunderbird Setup 91.5.0.exe installed thunderbird doesnt start with a fresh profile! thunderbird -safe-mode doesnt work thunderbird -p doesnt work

thats where the problem is! There has to be something among the logs i dont know what to do anymore! There should be some interfering with some of the programs or drivers i dont know!

Maybe you should run Windows in safe mode to eliminate the possible interference of any startup apps or driver issues. Since you had previously managed to run TB in safe mode, in Windows normal mode, I didn't think it was relevant, but at this point I don't have anything else to suggest. There's no reason why TB shouldn't run on W7, but at the same time there's no reason to run an OS that is end-of-life when upgrades to W10 are free.

sfhowes from a reddit user, i got the advice of clearing profiles from LOCAL folder too (not only Roaming)

now i can start -safe-mode with fresh profile too ! it asks me for account settings to include them in new profile i guess

normal start still crashes though! thunderbird.exe -p still crashes!

I didnt have chance to try windows in safe mode because im accessing the pc remotely! (will do when i go home)

For your notice, in order to use thunderbird, im not going to switch from win 7 to win10 because it s an old pc with no use of windows 10

yes i have grabbed it from inside profile folder there were crash reports..can you give me insight please ?

A crash report ID has last 6 digits correspond to a date, for example 220121.

thanks wayne.. I opened thunderbird in safe mode..got into more troubleshoot information and click view crash reports..i did see a report but it was not submitted (when thunderbird crashes, i click send report to mozilla but it says report could not be submitted)

anyway i clicked on the report so i click submit..So it became submitted..
