When I try to sign in on Morrisons On Line Shopping I am invited to add my user name and password, once done there is a pause then this appears:

This page isn't directing properly. Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request in a way that will never complete. This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies. Try again.

No matter how often I try again, the same thing occurs. It also occurs in troubleshooting mode, and also if I remove all of my security add ons.

This has only occurred since Xmas, and does not occur on any other browser.

I would like a fix, please.

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache.

If there is still a problem,

Start Firefox using Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

While you are in Troubleshoot(Safe) mode;

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration in Firefox. Since this feature was added to Firefox it has gradually improved but there are still a few glitches.

Hi Fred, Thnx for responding but have tried all your suggestions with no success. I'm running Private all the while but cleared cookies anyway and had previously tried troubleshooting mode with no joy. With Hardware acceleration off graphics are slower but still Firefox is reluctant to open ant 'click here' instruction on any site and wont allow me into my Morrison's account. Though I loathe Edge, it gives me no trouble in this context. It's something the Firefox has changed in late December. A pity Firefox is no becoming full of gadgets and wheezes, it was far more trustworthy when it was simpler.

There is a change in Firefox 96 related to cookies and insecure sites.

As a workaround for now you can modify this pref on the about:config page to revert this change.

  • about:config => network.cookie.sameSite.laxByDefault = false

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.
