Thunderbird ignores default identity when responding to a list

I've configured a default identity using "manage identities" in "account settings". When responding to an email from an email list though, it chooses the smtp server account identity instead of the one I've selected as the default.

I've verified that Thunderbird correctly uses the configured default when composing a fresh email. When responding to an email on which one of my identities is in the 'to' or 'cc', it uses that one, which also seems reasonable.

I'm using version 78.13.0 (64-bit)
