Mijn emailadres is ad.henen@zonnet.nl. Mijn internetprovider is Ziggo.

A password is requested for the outgoing (SMTP) server, smtp.ziggo.nl. When creating the account in Thunderbird, there is no place to enter a password for the outgoing mail via smtp.ziggo.nl. Under Live mail, this is not requested either. It is strange that my test mail is under sent. in reality is not sent (see above). I know this because I sent it to my wife, for whom I also created an account in Thunddrbird. The test does not show up under her inbox. Hopefully I have been clear.

Normally, the smtp password is entered when the account is added to TB, except when a different smtp server is used by the account, e.g. the zonnet account uses the ziggo smtp. In that case, you are prompted for the smtp password the first time a message is sent, and it is stored in Saved Passwords in Options/Privacy & Security.

If the sent message appears in the Sent folder, it reached the smtp server, but if it doesn't appear in the recipient's Inbox, that is a problem for the recipient - typically, the message was directed to the Spam or Bulk folder, which is not displayed in a POP account.

I have installed Thunderbird on my new PC. Previously I had Live mail on my old PC. In the account setup, I copied the settings under Live. My e-mail address is ad.henen@zonnet.nl. My internet provider is Ziggo. My incoming mail goes via POP3.zonnet.nl and my outgoing mail under live went via smtp.ziggo.nl. The smtp.ziggo.nl does not work under Thunderbird. What is wisdom?

If the smtp settings are correct, what is the error message when you send? Do you have to allow non-ziggo accounts to send through the ziggo smtp?
