With the latest update a lot of ease-of-use has gone away. Include is the fact that tabs that are playing sound only show an icon when I hover the mouse over them. I can not seem to about:config to get the sound icon to remain, despite changing the setting. This means if multiple tabs are playing I have to search all the tabs individually. It also means I cannot quickly switch to the desired tabs muting and unmuting as I prefer.

While this is a specific problem which I hope you can solve readily, it is a part of a pattern I have seen over some of the more recent updates, where useful features are removed in favor of aesthetics. It was this very mistake that lead me to leave internet explorer for firefox. Leave us the ability to turn on and off what we like, instead of forcing us to accept whatever you think is the trend.

Hi

i feel similarly.

The visual cue of a symbol is more powerful than text (though ironically i like MS office text menus and didn't find the visual nature of the Ribbon Toolbar helpful).

The best workrounds i've found are:

- this add-on, which works perfectly (click it and it jumps to whichever tab is playing audio). It even jumps to audio playing in a separate firefox window.

- this user css code. It's not perfect (as the symbols don't align) but it fixes the fact that mozilla don't offer any ability to configure this useful functionality
