I have not been able to login to Thunderbird since 4/22/2021. Whenever I open Thunderbird, I get an error message about my password (please see attached photo). When I insert my password (the same one I've had since 2017), it does not accept it and shows me the same error message again. I can, however, successfully login to my AT&T email account on a web browser, using that same password.

I've already tried deleting my password and resetting it (which did not work). I've also already tried changing my authentication method to Oauth2, but then I received an error message that "the IMAP server does not support the selected method".

Thank you for your time!

You must use a secure mail key in TB instead of the account password, and normal password authentication:

Could this be related to a change in security at AT&T?

I don't have AT&T myself, but looking around I think they switched to OAuth like you tried, but each application you use requires its own separate password, rather than you one you would use to log in online.

Here's a link they provide https://www.att.com/support/article/email-support/KM1240462

It seems you need to generate a password to use in Thunderbird here https://www.att.com/olam/passthroughAction.myworld?actionType=ManageAppPwd

And then change the password in Thunderbird to the one you generated.

I think you might need to generate a password from your AT&T account to use in Thunderbird (this is different from you usual AT&T password).
