All my folders in GMail disappeared

Ive been using Thunderbird for multiple accounts (personal IMAP & POP, GMail IMAP, Yahoo IMAP, ATT Imap) for 10+ years. I was nagged all day yesterday that an update was available and at the end of the day I installed it then logged off for the day.

This morning on logging in, all of my accounts were operational but all of my folders (about 200) on gmail were missing.

It took about 45 minutes but then I figured out that something changed in how Thunderbird sees the GMail folder structure. For your GMail account, right click on the Account name, Select Settings Go to Server settings, on that page, under Server Settings, Click Advanced Uncheck "Show Only subscribed folders". If you have text in "IMAP Server directory:", remove it (It probably has [Gmail]. "Server supports folders that contain sub-fiolders and messages." should be checked. Click OK, Exit the Account Settings tab. Exit and restart Thunderbird.

When you restart, your Gmail account "should" repopulate all of your folders. If it doesn't try right clicking on the account name, select "Subscribe" and select all your folders.

I had to change my IMAP Server directory to [gmail]/[Gmail]/ to correctly display all of my folders. Not sure what the update changed but this resolved the issue for me.
