Adding a bookmark to the home screen

more options

Firefox 87.0.0-rc.1

I have a bookmark that I created to an online Bible. I have to create and edit the bookmark, because as soon as I open it, it redirects me to whatever my previous reading location was. The URL I end up with might look like this.

https://www.esv.org/Matthew+8/

Where the URL I want bookmarked needs to just be "https://www.esv.org/".

So I create and edit the bookmark, I have what I want. Whenever I open it, it redirects me to the correct last location.

Now I want to put this bookmark on my home screen. How do I do it?

I see where I can "Add to Home screen" in the menu, but this nets me a home screen button with the entire URL that will always return me to that specific location, not the edited URL that I want.

I hope that makes sense. Thanks.

Hi David When I go to esv.org, that page opens and I can save it as a bookmark. If before doing that, I select the Read now option to read the Bible online, then yes, a chapter reference is included in the URL.

OK. I'm being redirected because I'm logged into an account there. When I logged of my account and then went to esv.org I was not redirected and was able to save it to my home screen.

While this is a solution in my particular case, I still think it would be worth having the ability to add bookmarks to the home screen like we used to be able to do. This would allow someone to do what I originally wanted, which was have a home screen link that could be edited.

Hi

If you go to esv.org in Firefox for Android and select Add to Hone screen from the menu, a shortcut to that page will be added to the Android homescreen.

I hope that this helps.

No, it doesn't. You don't seem to understand the question.

When I go to esv.org I'm immediately redirected to another URL. (https://www.esv.org/Matthew+8/ for example.)

I want a shortcut to esv.org, not to the redirected URL. I either need to be able to edit the URL before I save it to the home screen, or add a bookmark that I've already edited to the home screen.
