Today when I clicked Okay on the popup box asking if I wanted to compress my email data, all of the emails in my Inbox disappeared - other accounts and folders were unaffected. I tried all of the recovery methods recommended by Thunderbird and nothing worked.

Any ideas? These are a lot of work emails and I really need that information back.

is your account IMAP or POP?

Either way, try right clicking the folder, selecting properties and then the repair button.
