Problem with Moving Thunderbird Data to a New Computer

I have followed the instructions given on the help page (Moving Thunderbird Data to a New Computer). When the Thunderbird opens all the data appears to be there. But when I then close the program and it is then reopened Thunderbird opens without any data. When I click on "Help" on the menu bar and select "Troubleshooting Information" nothing opens, all the itemson the menu bar do not show anything when clicked.

I have been trying to sort this for 2/3 days, and looking at all the support information without any success.

I hope someone can help as the old computer has lost it's ability to connect to the internet otherwise I would email all the emails I wish to transfer to another account and then email them back to the new computer.
