Thunderbird fails to recognize new 2nd AOL email account password
I finally decided to get work on using Thunderbird. I have Linux Mint 20 mate edition, everything updated every day.
I first added my "netscape.net" AOL account to Thunderbird, This was properly detected as a is a "imap.aol.com" server using OAuth2 authentication. Every one of my 6K messages downloaded here no problem. Happy. looked good.
Then tried the same with another AOL account. This one is a Verizon.net account, I'm one of the millions forced to migrate to AOL. Though that process worked transparently, it's a "pop.verizon.net" server and uses "normal Password". I have no reason to think it was not auto-detected properly. The first error message is: "Error getting mail password". then "[SYS/TEMP] Server error -Sending of password for user p.holmzie did not succeed". and Then "Login to server pop.verizon.net with username p.holmzie failed"
Though I usually figure things out, I am truly stumped. I continue to use the same "Verizon.net" account directly, so I know I am using the correct password. I realize it may be a different portal, but I don't buy it. Any suggestions?
Thank you in advanced for your kind attention! holmzie
