Why can't I see and access my Firefox add-ons?

As of Firefox 77.x on macOS 10.14.6 I cannot access or see any of my add-ons in the browser page interface.

• I've 'reset' Firefox. • I've trashed the .plist file for Firefox. • I've gone through the traditional routine of trashing favicons.sqlite, favicons.sqlite-wal, places.sqlite, places.sqlite-shm, and places.sqlite-wal. • I've verified that all my add-ons are currently valid ON and valid. • I've turned off and on extensions to see if one of them is causing the problem. • I've Quit and rebooted Firefox between each of these steps.

Nothing is helping. This apparently is an entirely new situation from when I was seeing this problem in previous versions of Firefox when I was always successful at solving this specific problem.

What changed and what do I do now? This severely hobbles my ability and willingness to use Firefox browser. Please end this madness. I'm to the point of irate, after all this trouble with add-ons.

That was interesting, but was not the problem. After playing around further, I realized that the total lack of access to my add-ons could be due to Firefox being in Private Browser mode. I went in search of how this could have happened and found that it was due to a change in the History setting I'd made after frustration with 'Clear Recent History...' failing in a previous version of Firefox. I'd apparently changed the History setting from 'Remember History' to 'Never Remember History'. Therefore, I changed it back to 'Remember History'. It oddly took a couple Firefox restarts for the add-ons to reappear. All but one stubborn add-on did return.

Problem solved!

I'll be contacting the dev for the still stubbornly unavailable add-on.

I would not have figured this out without your assistance prodding me to dig further. Thank you!

It’s possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.

Type about:support in the address bar and press enter.

Under the page logo on the left side, you will see Application Basics.
Under this find Profile Folder. To its right press the button
Show Folder. This will open your file browser to the current Firefox profile.
Now Close Firefox.

Windows: Show Folder; Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder

Linux: Under the page logo on the left side, you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Directory. To its right press the button Open Directory.

Delete all extensions* files and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile
folder to reset the extensions registry.

New files will be created when required.

After, restart Firefox.

See "Corrupt extension files":

That was very good work. Well Done.

BTW: What add-on is still not working?
