Since Friday morning (12th June 2020), I have been unable to send emails; I get this error message: An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: 535 5.7.8 [TPG-A02] Authentication denied. User _______@tpg.com.au is banned from using SMTP AUTH due to previous abuse. Please verify that your email address is correct in your account settings and try again.

I have spoken with my ISP (who finally got back to me today), and they advised me to change my password on their website and then update this in Thunderbird an hour later. I did this, but there has been no change to the issue.

I have attached a screenshot of my outgoing SMTP details. My email service provider is TPG Australia.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

This says it all. What kind of abuse they are talking about, only you and TPG knows. To update the password used by Thunderbird for smtp auth, open Saved Passwords, find the entry for SMTP then edit it here, or remove it then try sending mail so that Tbird prompts for the new password. If every other server setting is correct, this is a problem with TPG and not Thunderbird.

Note: do not post personal information like your full email addresses, phone numbers, etc in public forums like this one. Edit your previous post and remove the email address.

Je voulais attacher un fichier photo assez lourd à un email sur mon Yahoo!-mail. Yahoo me répond d'installer Google cloud(??) ou DROPBOX J'installe DROPBOX avec un compte DrOPBOX sur mon pc Asus... Aussitôt, DropBOX commence à prendre la main sur tous les fichiers personnels de mon PC et à les copier dans un dossier "documents" dans mon YAHOO!-mail.......et, je suppose à placer tous mes fichiers dans "son cloud"(??!!)...Cela dure des dizaines de minutes...c'est tard le soir je dois arrêter en éteignant mon pc de force... Le lendemain matin, à l'allumage d emon PC, le "transfert" se poursuit ...puis à un moment donné apparaît un message me disnat que DROPBOX a trop peu d'espace pour transférer TOUS mes fichiers...et qu'il faut que je passe de la formule BASIC (gratuite!) à une formule PAYANTE...!! Là, je veux arrêter immédiatement l'exp^érience et je DéSINSTALLE Dropbox par le système ad hoc Windows etjesuppriume mon compte Dropbox........... Mais...après cela la presque totalité de mes données personnelles PC sont sur mon yahoo-mail...et donc à la dispôsition de YAHOO! comme le reste de mes production de mail...........mais surtout, il reste des milliers d'écritures DROPBOX dans le disque dur de mon PC...............et il m'est même IMPOSSIBLE dorénavant d'UTILISER mon PC car si je veux sauver n'imoorte quel fichier je dois passer par un chemin "DROPBOX"...qui m'est désormais INTERDIT...!!! ce chemin comme ceci: C\users\luc\dropbox\monPC\(desktop-E52jfn8)\documents\..............où (desktop-E52jfn8) est la griffe de DROPBOX qui ne permettra l'enregistrement de MON fichier sur MON PC ...que si DROPBOX l'autorise, si je ré-ouvre un compte chez DRPBOX..............................!
