Firefox Sync refuses to stay logged in and every time I log in, a duplicate device gets added. Why?

more options

When I use Firefox on my Macbook Pro, I always get logged out every time I restart the laptop. I tried everything shown in similar threads and nothing works. When I went into the Devices & Apps section, I noticed that my Macbook has a duplicate entry for every time I have logged in. All my other devices appear only once.

I tried deleting those duplicates (which were in the several dozens), but they continue to appear each time I log in to Firefox Sync.

Why is this and how can I get it to stop adding duplicate entries?

Hello,
Lately scammers have been posting   (mainly in threads where no reply has been posted yet),   claiming to be Mozilla experts and asking users to either call a so-called toll-free phone number or giving them a link to a site, where they are promised to get expert help.
These posts of course are scams.
Hopefully informing you about this will scare them off and you won't see such scam post.

Thank you for this info, McCoy! I did not know about the scammers before.

Firefox uses the Password Manager to store the credentials of the Firefox Sync account (chrome://FirefoxAccounts) to make it possible to connect to Sync each time you start Firefox without the need to enter email and password. If you use the master password then you need to enter the MP every time you start Firefox. If you are asked to login again to Sync then this means that the Sync credential data isn't stored properly in the Password Manager.

Do you see any entries in the Firefox Password Manager ?

Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security: Logins and Passwords: "Saved Logins" -> "Show Passwords"

You can check if you have a logins.json.corrupt file in the profile folder.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.

Hi Arman - the problem isn't that I'm logged out of all the sites. It's that I'm not logged in to Firefox at all every time I restart my computer. So each time I have to log in from start, customize Firefox, and then a new duplicate device gets added to the list of Devices & Apps.

Hi Shashank:

1. I'm not using a Master Password. And I tried to to use it, but when I restart my computer, it removes the master password as if I had never set it up.

2. The browser does not know any passwords until I log in to Sync. So it won't log in to Sync automatically.

3. When I go to Logins and Passwords, I see all my logins in there along with their passwords.

4.When I go to Profile Folder, I only see folders with names like 1llox486.default-release-s8. I don't see any file named logins.json or even close to that.

Any other advice?
